Reports
Vice President
Well here we are at the end of another month and I'm still not sure where this last month went! I know they say that the older you get, the time just flies by, and I am definitely seeing that more and more these days! It has definitely been an eventful last few months, and I am very happy to say productive months as well!
Our current CGRA Royalty Team for 2012 - Mr. John Beck, Ms. Paula Scougal and Miss Gia Diamante - have been hard at work this year raising funds for CGRA and their charity partners. I am very proud of this team and am really looking forward to watching them compete for the 2013 IGRA Royalty Team. I know they will do well! They will be sending out further updates for all of the fundraising they will be doing throughout the year. Thank you to all of you who have been out and supporting us thus far throughout the year. I appreciate it very much and I know that the Team does as well!
For those of you who have been keeping track and have possibly been out at the fundraising events being held lately, we have four individuals who have qualified to run for the 2013 CGRA Royalty Team. Help me in congratulating the contestants for Mr. CGRA 2013 - Karl Wesley and Stephen Grimes, and the contestants for Ms. CGRA 2013 - Miss Eryn and Pauline Chavez.
There was a fundraiser on May 19th at Charlie's Denver which helped one more individual qualify to run for the 2013 Royalty Team. Congratulations to Katrina St. Andrews who has now qualified to run for Miss CGRA 2013. Please come out to Denver Charlie's on Friday June 1, 2012, and watch as Katrina gets sashed as a contestant at our next monthly membership meeting. We will also be sashing Stephen Grimes that evening as he was unable to be with us at the May meeting where he was going to be sashed along with Pauline Chavez.
Please mark your calendars for the CGRA Past Royalty Show and the CGRA Royalty Competition and A Night of Sharing. I know that both of these events are still a few months away but I want to make sure that I get the dates out there so everyone is aware. The CGRA Past Royalty Show will be held at Charlie's Denver on Friday, November 30th, and the CGRA Royalty Contest and Night of Sharing will be held on Saturday, December 1st. More information will be coming out as we get closer to these dates, please keep an eye out!
Rocky Mountain Regional Rodeo is just around the corner! Can you believe it's coming so soon?!? I am working as the Volunteer Coordinator this year, so if you would like to volunteer some of your time during the weekend (July 13-15, 2012), please send me an email. For those of you that don't know, this will be our 30th year of Rodeo here in Colorado and it will be a great weekend! Please come out and be a part of this great event!
Thank you all for your continued support of CGRA!

Hello CGRA and friends!! We are fast approaching RMRR 30 and the excitement is building. We are expecting a great weekend and we all have a lot to celebrate. CGRA is the oldest continuous gay rodeo in the world and we are very proud of that fact.
We are looking for as many CGRA founding members as possible to attend and join us in the Grand Entry Parade. We are asking for as many current and past members to join us and create a huge statement of support and celebrate CGRA's enormous achievement of 30 years. If you know a founding member who is not receiving this newsletter please pass the word that we need them and want to see them.
Hope to see you all at ROCKY MOUNTAIN REGIONAL RODEO 30!!!

How we can fight againts infectants:
- Disinfectants:
- Follow label instructions for use.
- Note precautionary warnings and requirements for proper disposal of the disinfectant.
- DO NOT mix disinfectants with other chemicals.
- Select a disinfectant that has documented effectiveness in the presence of 10% organic matter, works in the water hardness of the locale, and is safe to use around horses and humans.
- Bleach is readily inactivated by organic matter; use only after thorough cleaning.
- Note: Bleach is the only practical commercially available disinfectant that kills clostridial spores.
- Viruses with envelopes (influenza, herpesvirus, equine viral arteritis, etc.) are readily killed with detergents and disinfectants.
- Phenolic compounds are effective for viruses lacking an envelope (rotavirus).
- On the go we can disinfect the stall's that we use:
- To Disinfect a Stall:
- Remove all bedding.
- Remove all removable objects such as buckets and feeders.
- Using a mixture of hot water and dish detergent, scrub them free of residue.
- Rinse thoroughly, then scrub again with a solution of 1 part laundry-type chlorine bleach to 10 parts water.
- Allow them to air-dry without rinsing.
- Scrub one more time with hot water and dish detergent.
- Rinse thoroughly to remove any bleach or detergent residue.
- Sweep cobwebs, dust, hay, etc., from the stall floor, walls, ledges and door.
- Wash walls and other solid surfaces using a garden hose, a stiff scrub brush, and dishwashing detergent.
- Mix Lysol Disinfectant Concentrate (2 q/2 tablespoons per gallon of water) in a garden-type spray tank.
- Wear protective clothing, including long sleeves, long pants, gloves, goggles and head gear.
- Spray a soaking mist of disinfectant onto all surfaces and allow to air-dry. Repeat.
- Return clean buckets and feeder to your horse's stall.
- Bed with clean bedding.
- Back at home:
- Clean out the stall
- First you must remove all of the bedding and cobwebs from the stall, as well as your horse's buckets and feeder.
- If cleaning after an illness, the bedding needs to be burned, buried deeply in the manure pit so that horses or other animals can't get to it or removed completely from the property.
- The water buckets and feeder should be disinfected as well, as well as any items that have been used with a sick horse.
- Types of disinfectants
- You can mix your own disinfectant using either chlorine bleach or Lysol disinfectant.
- For the bleach solution, combine one part bleach and ten parts water.
- If you prefer the Lysol, place two and a half tablespoons of Lysol in a gallon of water.
- You can also find commercial stall disinfectant at feed and tack stores, on websites or in catalogs.
- Mix these according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Royalty
Howdy rodeo family, Hope everyone is having a great summer. I want to thank everyone who came out to mine and Katrina's Country Classic show, the other night. We had a great turn-out and raised some serious monies. I want to thank all the performers who came out, the show I think was one of the best shows put on. I am holding another fundraiser to be held at Barr Lake on June 9th from 9am- 4pm. The trail ride will start around 10am and we'll ride till close to 12noon. We have friends bringing in draft horses to pull their wagon with seats. Then the Bar-b-que will start at noon. The cost will be $7 gate fee per car(carpool) and ride/lunch will be $20. All the proceeds to go to CGRA and The American Cancer Society. I will have music playing, games like volley ball and horse shoes. Come on out and help me raise some funds for research. This Cancer bug is a VERY BAD BUG, and we need to stop it, before it takes more of our family and friends. So if you have a horse bring them out and if you don't come out and ride in the wagon, great picture areas. Lot's of eagles out there.

Mr. CGRA 2012:
Sorry I could not make the last board/membership meeting last Friday. My nephew got married in Lincoln, Nebraska.
I have my next fund raiser for my charities on June 23 which is horses in the parking lot of Charlies. Kids and adults on horses - pictures taken at $4.00 for you on a horse. 'Choices Kids' are to show up.
So I hope everyone has "RODEO" on their minds!
Thanks,
John Beck

Hey Folks!
It is so exciting to have so many contestants sashed for the 2013 Royalty contest. We are talking to some Kings as it would be great for Colorado to have a complete team. IGRA needs to be able to have reason to say COLORADO IS BACK!!! Traveling to Finals this year is my goal and I am hoping to make a few more. Working hard on getting our wonderful rodeo association out there by attending so many events on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Have a lot in store for the upcoming year and am going to enjoy the ride. I would like to personally thank each and every one of you for the support you give to the royalty team and contestants....
Miss Eryn
