Rodeo Director
The time is finally here, what everybody has worked so diligently to achieve. Rocky Mountain Regional Rodeo 29!!!!!! Yahoo!!!! This being my first time as a Rodeo Director, I learned quickly that it is a difficult job, with a lot of responsibilities. I want to thank Jeremy Snidow for being my coach, my mentor, my reminder 'to do' list, and my support for the past year. I would have been lost with out his help and guidance, and for that I will always be grateful. This Board Of Directors pulled together and got the job done, and I am honored to have worked along side of each and every one of them. I hope everyone's experience at RMRR 29 is enjoyable, and that we raise significant monies to give to our Charity Partners.
With RMRR 29 in the history books, we need to start planning for RMRR 30!!!!! CGRA is the oldest consecutive rodeo on the IGRA circuit, and 2012 being the 30 year anniversary, we need to throw a party that will be unforgettable. 2012 is also my 10 year anniversary as Ms. CGRA, so RMRR 30 has significant meanings. I can hardly wait to celebrate, and we are just having RMRR 29!!!!
Keep tuned in everybody, CGRA is the diamond that shines!!!!
Lets Rodeo!!!!

Membership
Those with memberships expiring 30 June, 2011...
please get you renewals processed BEFORE RMRR29!
REMEMBER:
- All memberships are based on calendar year quarters instead of months. This translates to just 4 renewal dates per year- March 31, June 30, September 30, and December 31.
- Membership cards (for those who wish them) and reminder emails should make it easier for everyone to renew their membership when due. Members will be DEACTIVATED in the database within 10 days of expiration if they have not renewed. ABSOLTELY NO EXCEPTIONS!
- CGRA offers limited JR. memberships at a reduced annual fee of $12. This is ONLY for those under the age of 18 - with parental approval, of course.
Please do take a moment and make sure your membership is up-to-date. Prompt renewals are always greatly appreciated and be sure to let me know if you have any name, address, phone or email changes. Do check your emails closely for those renewal reminders. For those of you needing to renew end of JUNE, you have started hearing from me already.
Remember, staying on "Active" status is imperative for rodeo event registration - AND I HAVE MEMBERSHIP CARDS FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS ONE! If I don't run into you at our meetings and events, contact me and I'll snail mail one to you. Not only is it a great reminder for your renewal date, but a shopping trip to Lancaster's with your card will net you a 10% discount.
Feel free to email me: membership@cgra.us if you have any questions or updates...
and, as always, Membership Applications/Renewal forms are available through the website. Those can be snail mailed to me at:

Entertainment
Well gang, it's Rodeo Time finally.
We have several more people scheduled to entertain at rodeo. And probably get more the night of registration. The only thing we haven't gotten are any dance teams.
Remember that Kandis Glasgow will be performing during registration Friday night. Followed by some dance exhibitions with Kimaels help. And our out of state and IGRA royalties performing later that night.
Then on Saturday night, Coles Whalen will be performing Saturday night. After a full day of entertainment under the tent starting after Grand Entry. So stick around for them.
Just remember "Get in the Truck."

Reposted by permission of the official Gene Aurty website
Author Holly George-Warren researched the origins of Gene Autry's Cowboy Code and wrote about it in her award winning book Public Cowboy No. 1: The Life and Times of Gene Autry. Here's and excerpt:
Gene's Ten Cowboy Commandments began to evolve from such Autry-related publicity as the item "Nine Cardinal Rules Governing Production of All Autry Films," which ran in the 1949 press book for Riders in the Sky. As early as August 1947, Gene had pronounced cowboy-code mandates during his Melody Ranch radio show dramas. Gene's PR team promoted his Cowboy Code, which was referred to in the 1948 Life magazine feature, and fan magazines began to publicize the rules as they evolved. Tenets promoting an ethical, moral, and patriotic lifestyle had an affinity to those of such youth organizations as the Boy Scouts, which developed similar doctrines. The rules were a natural progression of Gene's philosophies going back to his first Melody Ranch programs – and early pictures.
Gene Autry's Cowboy Code
- The Cowboy must never shoot first, hit a smaller man, or take unfair advantage.
- He must never go back on his word, or a trust confided in him.
- He must always tell the truth.
- He must be gentle with children, the elderly, and animals.
- He must not advocate or possess racially or religiously intolerant ideas.
- He must help people in distress.
- He must be a good worker.
- He must keep himself clean in thought, speech, action, and personal habits.
- He must respect women, parents, and his nation's laws.
- The Cowboy is a patriot.

Mile High Pool Tournament
It is Monday June 27 and we have survived the fourth annual pool tournament for the Mile High Pool League Tournament at Jeffco!!!!
Several years ago CGRA went through some lean years and we were forced to stop our contestant added monies for RMRR and for various reasons our contestant registration had fallen into the low 70's. We had to ask ourselves how do we rebuild our RMRR contestant registration and attract new contestants. Of course the answer is always more money so we began to think how do we raise this money. It was then we got the call from Jeffco that a pool league needed catering service with beer and alcohol license available. It was pretty obvious that this was the opportunity we were looking for so we accepted the challenge.
For four years we have asked CGRA members to help out with bar and kitchen service to support RMRR and the CGRA general fund.
I simply must say that CGRA always steps up and raises the bar for every association when there is a need. There are never enough words to express THANKS AND GRADITUDE for all your support!
Jack Morgan
Paul Houdapp
Mike
Larry L.
Ken Pool
Robert Thurtell
Clyde M.
Pauline Chavez
Kim F.
Rich V.
Scott Alexander
Tom Lott
Marry Tabay
Shane D.
Now these are just the names that helped out in the kitchen area cooking, cleaning, pouring beer from the kitchen window, and so many duties to keep a kitchen working for three days. And we have fun doing this!!!!
I can't even name the help in the actual bar so I will leave that to the bar managers. This year due to work obligations I asked Robert T., Jeramy S. and Mary M. to manage the bar service and a HUGE THANK YOU to them for doing a great job. It was a very long weekend but at the end of the day it really was worth all the agony and loss of sleep.
David Hill, CGRA Treasurer, as always does a great job as finacial manager.
There was a smaller but important event the weekend before at Jeffco for the Colorado Towing and Recover Service and I was unable to work that event due to work but THANKS to everyone who cane out and worked that event also.
Oh my, I hope I have not missed anyone because you are all so appreciated. THANK YOU SO MUCH and CGRA THANKS YOU FOR EVERY MINUTE YOU WORKED to support RMRR and CGRA.
