Yeehaw, Giddy Up and Get in the Truck,

Did you miss me? Like if that ain't a silly question to start out with. Some call it the onset of Alzheimer's or maybe it's just CRS syndrome. I think it's more simply put that I fell down on the job, can't get up, or plain ass lazy. Let me start by apologizing to each of you (that's probably only two) for my tardiness in getting this one out. But enough of that....... Let's get started.

What a month and just over two to go. That's right RMRR 29 is just over two months away. It's coming together nicely, a few kinks here and there and some new ideas for each of you to criticize. Now I really don't think you'll do that, will you? Of course you will and as long as it's done constructively we can all learn from it and move forward. RMRR is the longest consecutive running rodeo on the IGRA circuit. Something for each of you to be very proud of. Your help, your input and your involvement is what enables us to give back through donations to our community each and every year. I look forward to your assistance in accomplishing that once again this year.

What are you doing this Friday? Yeah this Friday, April 15th. Well just in case you haven't looked on line at cgra.ws you might want to join us at our monthly general membership meeting. Board of Directors meets at 6:00 followed by the General Membership at 8:00. Oh yeah and it's at Charlie's. I think I feel like cooking. Let's do it. Let's get the whole Spring thing going. Kinda a prelude to Summer. I'll fix BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwiches, Baked Beans and Potato Salad. All you have to do is get your ass there. I think that's twice I used that word. Those who authorize the release of this letter will probably send it back to me. Oh well they may want to be careful with that. They just might have to type it themselves next month. LMAO. So I'm not gonna go into great detail about everything that's coming up we'll do that at the meeting.

There are a couple things that I wish you to take note of. The first being the Bar Crawl that was discussed at last month's meeting to happen this Saturday the 16th of April. Due to the RMRR posters being delayed and the $2.00 OFF tickets not being ready and the......... Oh you get it. Let's cancel this one and change the date. Let's do this right. Lets have everything ready to go and make a big splash. "Get in the Truck" is hard to do when the Truck won't start. We will still have time to get three Bar Crawls in before rodeo. The other item of interest that you should mark on your calendars is an Out Of Town trip. We're going to Choice City Shots in Ft. Collins on the 11th of June. We are in the process of planning a BIG show there with a fundraiser and membership drive. How do 'they' say that.... Stay tuned for more details.

Well for now that's probably enough. For those of you who thought that after the second paragraph, Thanks for reading my letter. I hope it finds you and yours doing well and I look forward to seeing you on Friday. You gotta be there, I'm gonna try something really different and NO, I ain't gonna tell you what it is. See you then.

Schedule of events for IGRA and Trustee meeting at Sunshine Stampede:
At 10:00 am Finals committee meeting
12:00 pm Lunch
1:00 pm Board of Directors and Trustees meeting

6:00 pm Contestant Registration

At this time I've not heard of any big issues to be discussed by the Trustees, but let membership know if there are. Don't forget Palm Springs and Little Rock Rodeos are coming up on the weekend of April 29-30.

At Charlie's on April 2, we had a mini-rodeo and had lots of fun. But I think a few of us woke up with a brain tumor, no names of course but J.S. do you remember whose your DADDY???? Gossip is worth, ALOT!! LOL

Rodeo Director

Hello CGRA,

Life as the Rodeo Director has been very busy, getting everything done that needs to be done. I am well ahead of my goal, to have all RMRR 29 obligations in order by the end of May. For the meeting April 15th, I will have the new and improved running order of events to present to the BOD. The running order that was approved by the BOD at the last meeting was causing added running time for the rodeo, and was not 'stock friendly' for the Animal Welfare requirements that need to be met. When finalized, the running order will be posted on the web site. I apologize if this caused anyone problems, but it needed to be re-visited for improvements.

There are still sponsorships available, with chutes, buckles, etc. I am personally sponsoring a buckle, it is easy to do. Contact Bruce Gros, or any BOD position. Please help us secure more monies for our charities, by contacting your businesses, friends, etc and sponsoring CGRA. We need every member's assistance, and volunteers to make this a rodeo to remember. We are 93 days away from RMRR 29, so lets get after it!!!!

Public Relations

Hello CGRA

I am so excited! Now is the time to get focused on RMRR 29, much time as been spent already by everyone on the board in making sure that RMRR 29 is a huge success. Sponsorship sales are under way. The website is updated and contains lots of useful information. I encourage all of CGRA to be asking how you can help and get involved.

I remind everyone, that CGRA has held 28 years of continuous rodeo. That in itself a a huge feat. So now is the time for our membership to help RMRR 29 be successful.

If you were not at the Dance Competition you missed a great night of fun. Dr. R J Johnson is doing a wonderful job with our dance program. Kim Fry, our metro outreach has been busy promoting CGRA. He has several upcoming events planned. If anyone is interested in helping him out please contact him at email address removed

Also, if you would like to volunteer at RMRR 29 please contact Clyde Mitter at email address removed. Local royalty and entertainers who want to perform at RMRR 29 need to contact John Kingston at email address removed or visit the website http://cgra.ws/ and go to the Rodeo link and find the online entertainment application for entertainment.

For those in CGRA who are traveling this month to rodeo's, please travel safe have a great weekend and return home safe and sound. Good luck to all of you.

We have the following rodeos this month

April 8 to 10, Sunshine Stampede, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, IGRA Board and Trustee meeting will be webcasted
April 29 to May 1, Rodeo in the Rock, Little Rock, Arkansas
April 29 to May 1, Hot Rodeo, Palm Springs, California

I also wanted to let everyone know that North Star Regional Rodeo, July 1 - 3 has been canceled this year

On Thursday April 14, Kim and I were at the "A Day of Noise" day held at Auraria campus, an event to help stop bulling on collage campuses. Also to let the GLBT community on camus know what GBLT resources are here in Denver. CGRA was asked to man a booth and Kim and myself were there. The headline entertainment was "God-des and She" who were featured in the season finale of the L word on HBO.

Due to our spring weather, this year's event was held indoors instead of outside in the commons as had been plannd. There were lots of students and staff there that did not even know that CGRA existed. I was happy that we were able to be a part of this year's event.

I look forward to seeing you at our monthly meeting. Friday April 15, Board meeting @ 6 pm, general membership @ 8 pm.

Membership

March 31 has just come - and gone.
For all members who had renewals due in the first quarter - time's up!
As per our by-laws, these memberships will become inactive if not renewed by Monday, 4/11.

Please do take a moment and make sure your membership is up-to-date. Prompt renewals are always greatly appreciated and be sure to let me know if you have any name, address, phone or email changes. Do check your emails closely for those renewal reminders. For those of you needing to renew by the end of March, you have started hearing from me already.

REMEMBER:

  1. All memberships are based on calendar year quarters instead of months. This translates to just four (4) renewal dates per year, March 31, June 30, September 30, and December 31.
  2. Membership cards (for those who wish them) and reminder emails should make it easier for everyone to renew their membership when due. Members will be DEACTIVATED in the database within 10 days of expiration if they have not renewed. ABSOLTELY NO EXCEPTIONS!
  3. CGRA offers limited JR. memberships at a reduced annual fee of $12. This is ONLY for those under the age of 18 - with parental approval, of course.

Remember, staying on "Active" status is imperative for rodeo event registration - AND I HAVE MEMBERSHIP CARDS FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS ONE! If I don't run into you at our meetings and events, contact me and I'll snail mail one to you. Not only is it a great reminder for your renewal date, but a shopping trip to Lancaster's with your card will net you a 10% discount.

Feel free to email me if you have any questions or updates...
and, as always, Membership Applications/Renewal forms are available through the website. Those can be snail mailed to me at:

CGRA-Membership P.O.Box 18728 Denver, CO. 80218

or, better yet...renew on line @ www.cgra.us

Rodeo Events

FHPs and aspiring FHPs: time for our April gymkhana!

Attendance was a bit sparse last month, but we still got in some good practice - and had fun. I plan to post results shortly that will cover both March and April.

We'll be running our standard speed events (poles, barrels, flags), some fun people events; and, the Men of Charlie's will be serving an all-you-can-eat lunch with beverages for a mere $3. Hope to see you there!

As a reminder, here's our remaining gymkhana dates this year:
GYMKHANA DATES: April 17, May 1, July 31 and October 2.

The chart highlighting the standing rule changes for our gymkhanas can be found below for your reference.

CGRA's RODEO CAMP DAY - SATURDAY, JUNE 4
CGRA has been holding (at least) one cattle practice day every year. One is in the planning stages for this year prior to RMRR29. We'll be roping in the morning and doing some dogging, steer riding and drag events in the afternoon. In addition to providing a practice venue for the veteran contestants, I would like to see us all help in placing more focus on recruiting and teaching new members. We need teams of "event leaders" to help coordinate the running of the different events. Please contact me if you would like to help out. If you have a specific interest - let me know. We'll need arena crew, timers/announcers and let's not forget the teachers - lots of teachers.

By the way, this is a new BOD hat for me this year, so please feel free to share any thoughts, ideas or even criticisms you might have. After all, this is YOUR organization. Contact me...

Now, get in the truck!

Entertainment

Now that I'm finally out of the hospital, I'm pushing forward with RMRR 29.

Letters have been sent out to all the Rodeo Associations to invite their royalties to entertain at rodeo. So far I have two entertainers signed up for rodeo. Hoping that I will get more from local entertainers as the month goes by.

Metro Outreach

Hello Everybody!

Well the month of April is off with a run, we have Provided books for the Center book club for the month of April the book this month is "Trash" by Dorothy Allison. So we have them on the way for this month.

We have an opportunity to go to the Auraria campus on April 14 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM for "The Day of Noise" and Community Resource Fair. It would be nice to see both sides of CGRA by having a cowgirl and cowboy at the school that day.

And the last thing from Outreach is on April, 23 for the Kids at Rainbow Alley. We are been asked to sponsor an interactive dinner and a movie. I was thinking that we could prepare a home cooked meal for the kids. The dinner will be at 4:30 p.m. and we will enjoy a movie with then. I will start the list out with a macaroni and cheese dish. E-mail me and let's feed the Kids.

Royalty

Well Hello CGRA Land,

Spring is in the air, and the sound of horse hooves are filling my ears! A BIG THANK YOU to John Beck for letting me come out every Saturday to ride! John is helping me with Barrels and Poles. I will be competing at RMRR 29 in barrels (What is the fine if my hair goes fling?) LOL!! And my video taping for IGRA competition is going to be AWESOME!! In other riding news, I got 3rd at the last Gymkhana in Barrels!!! Thanks Robin!

March wasn't really that busy of a month for me. Went up to the Springs for UCPPE Winter Cotillion 2011 with other members of CGRA, had a great time!! Then of course the Dance competition, always fun. CGRA BEER BUST at the Wrangler, I love pouring at the front door. I get to see them walk in the door and then fall out the door!! Always fun.

During April, I will be all over the place. During ICRME Coronation month, I will be attending all 3 candidate functions. Not only that, I have a show April 1st at "BJ's Carousel" Benefiting CGRA. I will let you all know how that goes. And let's not forget more riding!! Man I love this, "Shows and Riding"

Well until next time, be safe and say a little prayer for me!!!

Many HUGS,
Tracey Lee Saunders
