Submissions for the May newsletter are due April 24

The 13th Annual GBLT Expo was a great time for ASGRA folks and attendees.  Brutus, our manual bucking bull, was there to provide some instruction and entertainment for the crowd.  We had over 65 riders on Brutus with 59 on Saturday and 15 on Sunday.  Guess folks were a little weary after Saturday night; it was the black party in town that evening, you know!  Among those in attendance to represent ASGRA were Gaither Pennington, Patrick Hunter, Mary Lynn Logsdon, Jackie Thompson, Karl Klingener, Sonny Koerner, Oscar Mocelo and Lance Haverly. CGRA’s Larry Lindstrom flew in all the way from Colorado to lend us a hand. We handed out a lot of promotional material about gay rodeo and Atlantic Stampede in general, which will be happening on September 8, 9 and 10.  (Look for the poster for 2006 to start appearing on the website, the next newsletter, in locations around the city and at other ASGRA events).

We are sure that we will be seeing some new faces at Stampede.  With this being the year of Brokeback Mountain, we had more than a few folks say "I didn't even know that there was gay rodeo." and others who were surprised that we were not part of some movie promotion. It was great to give folks some education about gay rodeo and showing them how we cowboys and cowgirls ride with pride.

Even The Editor Sometimes Makes a Mistake…

In the March edition of the newsletter, some important information was mistakenly omitted from the lead article on IGRA University.  Frank Harrell, ASGRA’s Webmaster and Secretary was not only present at University, he was one of the instructors.  His classes on basic web design, HTML, JavaScript, etc spanned the entire weekend.  In addition to these courses being taught live, they were also net-cast over the Internet for everyone that couldn’t be in attendance to pertain in the course.  Frank is also the Webmaster for the IGRA web page and a wonderful asset to both ASGRA and to IGRA as a whole.  Thank you Frank, for your insight and willingness to share your gifts with all of us.  (Editor’s Note: Frank, please forgive me for accidentally deleting your name from the list of attendees while I was editing the article!!)
