The President's Update...

Guys and Gals:

What a wonderful weekend of events we had this past September 6, 7 and 8! In addition to glorious weather, our members and guests had two days of exciting arena competition, lots of toe-tapping entertainment, and just about as much dancing as the feet could bear. My hat is off to the men and women who made this superb event possible. My personal thanks go to the Board, our Rodeo Director and his Assistant Directors and to our Coordinators and volunteers. Everyone in the "Stampede 2002 family" devoted hours and hours of personal time to make this year's rodeo one of the most memorable in some time. Preliminary estimates suggest the weekend was also very successful financially and more details will follow.

Please mark your calendars to attend the October 27th Awards and Elections meeting at Sheridan's. In addition to thanking folks for past service, we'll elect a new group of leaders to take the Association into 2003 and beyond. Should you be unable to join us at this festive event, please take the time to mark and return your ballot. Each vote counts and the men and women on the ballot seeking leadership responsibilities deserve an investment of time and consideration from each of us. I can assure you that both you and the Association will be better for it.

See you on October 27th!

The Membership Corner

I'd like to first welcome back all of our members that have renewed and welcome all those that have joined for the first time. You're in for a fun ride with Atlantic States.

I have good news on the Member Benefit front! Sheridan's 1874 has come onboard with ASGRA membership discounts. They are offering all ASGRA members with a current, valid membership card a 20% discount on entrees in their restaurant. If you have never eaten there, you don't know what you're missing. Great food, a fabulous wait staff and a wonderful place to take a date. They join Carol's Western Wear, Avis Rental Cars and Remington's, who already offer discounts to ASGRA members. Welcome aboard, Sheridan's and thank you for your generosity.

Have you checked the web page lately? Cowboy Frank has put up many photos from Stampede 2002. In addition to the pictures, did you know that you can order an ASGRA "Red Shirt" or name badge online, as well as change your mailing or email address? Just follow the Membership links from the main page for all the options.

And lastly, I am your liaison to the Board of Directors. If you have a concern or question, please don't hesitate to contact me. I will do my best to get you an answer or get the situation corrected. It has been my pleasure to serve you all this past year as your Membership Chair.
Mike S., Membership Chair
