The 10th Reno rodeo scheduled for August 1-4 never happened

In 1985 to fill the void the International Gay Rodeo Association (IGRA) was formed with founding members including Colorado, Texas, California and Arizona

The first IGRA convention was held in Denver that year where the Oklahoma Gay Rodeo Association (OGRA) was seated

The IGRA held four rodeos that year.

In 1983 Floyd's Long Beach was opened by Al Bell. Al Bell served as GSGRA's first President and would play an important role in the development of gay rodeo.

The actual opening date of Floyd's is unknown, but this ad appeared in the very first GSGRA rodeo held in LA March 30-31.
