Joseph Sedlack, Phil's lover took the position Vice-President of CGRA/NRGR and became National Director of the contest and started recruiting local coordinators for the contest. (see slide). To this day IGRA and many associations task the Vice-President as Royalty liaison.

The Colorado Gay Rodeo Association was also founded in Denver that year.
