Sergeant Brett Parson has been a police officer for the Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia (MPDC) since 1994. He began as an officer and patrol supervisor, and has worked in the Vice/Narcotics, Gun Recovery, and Investigations Departments. While serving the community, he has become very familiar with all corners of the District.
An openly gay officer, Brett joined the Gay and Lesbian Liaison Unit (GLLU) in June of 2000 as its cocreator. Since then, he has worked to keep GLLU on the street and in the community. A street officer at heart, Brett can be seen and heard in all parts of the city responding to calls for service.
Brett is a native Washingtonian who brings an eclectic background to GLLU. He was a former professional ice hockey official, a teacher, a pool manager, and a resident director. He received his B.A. in Criminal Justice and Spanish Education and has pursued a M.A. in Criminal Justice and Counseling at the University of Maryland at College Park.
As a gay man and police officer, Brett has worked to build a bridge of understanding and trust between the GLBT community and the local police force. The Atlantic States Gay Rodeo Association proudly recognizes him for his unselfish dedication and gratefully acknowledges his service to our community and country.
These are the members of Atlantic States Gay Rodeo Association Royalty who have served our organization over the past twelve years. They have organized fundraisers and activities to entertain us and have worked to promote ASGRA in many ways. In the process, they have raised nearly $100,000 in funds for their selected charities, as well as for many others.
Many have become involved in the work of producing our rodeos, or serving in posts of leadership on the committees or boards of our organization. And some have moved on to represent us at the next level by winning positions as International Gay Rodeo Association Royalty. Above all, they have represented Atlantic States over the years with unmatched style and grace.
Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for your time, patience, talent, unyielding dedication, and service to ASGRA and to the community at large. We dedicate the Atlantic Stampede 2003 rodeo program to you, our past and present ASGRA Royalty.
