Dust off your cowboy hat and boots, the Atlantic States Gay Rodeo Association's 12th annual Antlantic Stampede returns to town Sept. 5-7 at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds in Gaithersburg, Md. In last year's Stampede, Sonny Koerner rides a bucking bull in style.
The 12th annual Atlantic States Gay Rodeo Association Atlantic Stampede rolls into D.C. this weekend. Organizers are expecting hundreds of competitors and around 4,000 spectators for the three-day event.
Rodeo events will be held at the Montgomery County Agricultural Center fairgrounds in Gaithersburg, Md. Free shuttle service is being provided from the Shady Grove Metro station. Hotel events are being held at the host venue, the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill.
Performers scheduled to appear during the weekend include the Boston Minutemen, D.C. Cowboys, Manhattan Prairie Dogs, D.C. Lambda Squares and Sequins & Studs.
Also scheduled to perform is country music singer Beverley Mahood, whose "Girl Out of the Ordinary" CD produced seven top-10 country singles.
