Born July 17, 1946 Elmira, New York, Johnny moved to Phoenix in 1949. Active in chorus and the drama department, he is a graduate of Alhambra High School. He served from 1967 to 1970 in the United States Marine Corps, completing his last eighteen months of active duty in Phu Bai, Viet Nam. A cosmetologist by profession, he has worked here in the valley for the past sixteen years.

An advocate of gay community affairs, he has actively participated in many local fund-raising projects. Currently he is serving as President of the Desert Sky Singers and is a member of Charlies Country Cloggers Performance learn. An enthusiastic supporter in the formation of the Arizona Gay Rodeo Association, Johnny took up horseback riding and event training this past summer under the guidance of Vern Nichols. Johnny is excited and proud to be participating in the horse events as well as reigning as Grand Marshal in Arizona's first Gay Rodeo.
